Record crowd sees Wycombe edge out Penn

PENN & Tylers Green delivered a spirited performance in front of a record crowd of 1,237 at French School Meadow, narrowly losing 2–1 to Wycombe Wanderers in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup second round.

Wycombe’s academy side took a two-goal lead through Micah Olabiyi and Mekhi Savage, but Penn responded strongly in the second half. Charlie Losasso won and converted a penalty to set up a tense finish, with the hosts pushing hard for an equaliser that ultimately didn’t come.

Joint-manager James Pritchard praised his players, saying: “We matched Wycombe physically and tactically, and gave everything. The atmosphere was incredible, and the lads responded brilliantly. We were unlucky not to get more.”

Chairman Nigel Miller reflected on the wider impact, adding: “It was a fantastic evening for the club. The organisation was first-class, from stewarding to catering, and the feedback from fans has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Financially, it was a huge boost, but more importantly, it showcased what grassroots football can offer. We’ve extended a half-price admission offer to Wycombe fans for the rest of the season to keep the momentum going.

“Seeing the smiles on our mascots’ faces as they led the teams out was priceless. It’s moments like these that inspire the next generation of players and fans. We’re proud to have created such a welcoming and exciting environment for families.”

Penn return to league action this Saturday with a 3pm kick-off against Langley at French School Meadow.
