Penn stage incredible second-half comeback

PENN & Tylers Green came from three goals down to earn an incredible comeback draw at Westside on Wednesday evening.

Despite confirming their status as Combined Counties League Division One champions on Saturday, Penn found themselves three down at half-time following goals from Evans Lamboh (15 minutes), Joe Robertson (19) and Tevon Webster (penalty, 28).

Incredibly, though, the visitors roared back after half-time to take a 4-3 lead!

Freddie Pritchard (47) got the ball rolling, before further goals from Kyle Dawes (57), Kian Austin (81) and Lennon Pritchard (84).

Unfortunately, Westside scrambled a point in stoppage time following Alex Foord’s penalty.

Joint-manager James Pritchard said: “It was a very entertaining game.

“In the first half, we were still in the clubhouse from Saturday! It was very lacklustre. We were punished.

“We had to pull our socks up after half-time and scored very quickly to get ourselves back in the game.

“We finally put ourselves in front and conceded from a penalty at the end – but if I’m being ultra fair, they (Westside) probably deserved that.

“I’m just pleased for the group that they were able to provide a response like that.”

Penn will lift the league title at home against Oxhey Jets on Saturday.
