Junior Pathway Coaching Development

AS PART of our vision to be the most admired football club in the South Bucks region, we recently partnered with local professional football coaching company iPro Football to deliver expert-led coaching development sessions to our entire junior pathway coaching group.

We were delighted to work with Sean Kelleher (Director of iPro Football, former academy coach at Watford and Wycombe Wanderers) and Adam Pilling, a highly-regarded coach in the professional game currently working with Arsenal Under-18s, to create and deliver this programme.

Across three separate blocks in September at French School Meadow, 71 Penn coaches took part in a combination of practical and classroom-based learning to support their development, making use of the great facilities at Penn.

The sessions were split across three age groups, with each being specifically tailored to give our coaches the tools and ideas appropriate to boys, girls and mixed teams they are coaching – this equated to nearly 200 hours of additional development the club has invested in!

The feedback from the sessions was fantastic, and further demonstrates how committed the club and our coaches are to creating the best possible environment for our young footballers as we look to create a pathway for them to remain part of our club through to adult football.

Reflecting on the sessions, Sean and Adam said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to share some ideas and experiences with a forward-thinking grassroots football club.

“Penn & Tylers Green is and always will be a club at the heart of the local community and being able to add value to the great work already going on was a genuine pleasure. Most importantly, through the coaches, the players will see the benefit in the short and long term.”

Looking ahead to what’s next, Junior Committee Chair Mike Burch and Junior Coaching Development Lead Neil Bellamy said: “This programme demonstrates our commitment to investing in continuously improving the experience for our young players here at Penn.

“There is more to come over the coming months, too, as we roll out more ways and opportunities for our coaches to further enhance their knowledge and skills – watch this space!”

We are always looking to bring new players to our club across our age groups, so do get in touch if you are interested.
