Women exit FA Cup

PENN & Tylers Green Women’s FA Cup journey came to an end on Sunday afternoon as they were beaten at Oxford City.

acing a side competing at a higher level, Penn found themselves under pressure from the opening whistle and Oxford took an early lead after just two minutes.

Yasmin Edwards opened the scoring before Kiyana Fryer doubled the advantage in the 10th minute. Edwards then struck again before an Emily Harris goal as City raced into a 4–0 lead after just 21 minutes.

Janaye Beaufort added a fifth before Edwards completed her first-half hat-trick on 32 minutes, leaving Penn facing a six-goal deficit at the interval.

Despite the scoreline, Penn continued to compete after the break and showed considerably more attacking intent. The visitors created opportunities of their own, with one long-range effort striking the woodwork before Oxford goalkeeper Aimee Flood produced a strong save from the follow-up.

Oxford restored their momentum when Sophie Lester made it 7–0 in the 55th minute, with Kate Parsons adding an eighth just two minutes later.

Penn continued to look for a consolation goal and had further opportunities, but Oxford remained dangerous going forward.

The hosts added four more goals during the closing stages. Parsons scored twice more to complete her own hat-trick, while Grace Craven and Meira Ashby also found the net to finish the scoring.

Attention now turns back to league action, with Penn & Tylers Green Women returning to French School Meadow next Sunday when we host Badshot Lea.
