Women power past Kidlington

On an afternoon when joint-managers Kevin Warner and Nicky Toulson made their competitive debut in the Penn dugout, the opening goal arrived after just seven minutes as Chappell followed up on the rebound to shoot home.

Then, just three minutes later, Maisie Williams crashed an effort against the post. Chappell once again reacted quickest to double Penn’s advantage.

The third arrived on 28 minutes and exposed Kidlington’s difficulty in dealing with Penn’s pace. Maisie Williams raced down the right before delivering a cross for Jessie Toulson, who smashed the ball home to make it 3–0.

The goals kept coming. On the half-hour mark, Tori Drew beat the visiting goalkeeper to a through ball and calmly slotted into an empty net.

Five minutes later, Maisie Williams was put through and finished emphatically, sending Penn into a five-goal lead.

Penn’s relentless first half was capped by a sixth goal in the 39th minute. Following a right-wing corner, Phoebe Williams fired home to make it 6-0.

After half-time, a rare visiting foray forward was awarded with a penalty on 53 minutes, which Beth Hawtin stepped up to convert.

The day belonged to Penn, though, who rounded off the scoring on 76 minutes as Drew burst away down the right before sending in a low cross which was converted by Lexi Reid.

A thoroughly-dominant performance from the home side, who begin their league campaign against Chesham United Development at French School Meadow next Sunday.
