Penn power past Spelthorne

PENN & Tylers Green stretched their lead at the top of Combined Counties League Division One with a 3-0 win over Spelthorne Sports on Easter Monday.

This result means that Penn need a maximum of just one win from their remaining three fixtures to claim the league title.

The hosts got off to the perfect start at French School Meadow, as Jeffrey Fordjour raced in behind the Spelthorne defence to slide beyond goalkeeper Ben Grummitt in the fifth minute.

And Fordjour doubled both his and Penn’s account just six minutes later, heading home a trademark Chris Ellis long throw.

Ellis got in on the scoring act himself ahead of half-time, producing a headed effort of his own following Charlie Losasso’s corner.

The second half was goalless but that didn’t matter to the home side, who moved themselves closer to title glory with this victory.

Anything other than a Bedfont win over PFC Victoria London on Wednesday would give Penn the championship. We return to action against Wembley at French School Meadow on Saturday.
