Magnificent seven downs Brook House

BEN Sturgess hit a hat-trick as Penn & Tylers Green moved top of Combined Counties League Division One with a thoroughly-dominant win at Brook House on Tuesday night.

Following a goalless first 20 minutes, Penn hit four goals before half-time to put themselves firmly in control at Farm Park.

Sturgess got the final touch on Chris Ellis’ long throw on 21 minutes before further goals from Felix Prudden (34 minutes), Lennon Moore (38) and Jeffrey Fordjour (43) ahead of the break.

Brook House replied on the stroke of half-time through Reece Keary.

That couldn’t halt the Penn, onslaught, though, with two more Sturgess strikes (54 and 78) and an own goal (89) rubber-stamping the win.

Victory guaranteed Penn a place in the end-of-season play-offs at the very least, with joint-manager James Pritchard saying: “Tonight closed off what has been a tough schedule.

“To see the work-rate, the intensity and that performance from the lads was just unbelievable.

“Across the pitch, our intensity caused errors and gave us more and more momentum as the game went on.

“We hit seven goals as well – we’re absolutely delighted.”

We return to league action at Colliers Wood United next Wednesday.
