THE OPPOSITION
About Easington Sports
Easington Sports Football Club was established in 1946 and takes its name from the Easington ward of Banbury, Oxfordshire. The club began in local junior football before joining the Oxfordshire Senior League in the late 1950s, where it enjoyed early success with back-to-back Premier Division titles in 1957/58 and 1958/59. A Division One championship followed in 1965/66, and in 1971 the club stepped up to the Hellenic League. Over the years Easington have added silverware including the Ben Turner Trophy in successive seasons (1969/70 and 1970/71) and, more recently, the Hellenic League Division One West title in 2018/19. Known by the nickname ‘The Clan’, the club have long been a fixture of grassroots football in the Banbury area.
Following their 2018/19 divisional title, Easington Sports continued to climb the senior non-league pyramid, spending time in the United Counties League Premier Division South before moving into the Combined Counties League Premier Division North. The club play home matches at Addison Road in Easington, Banbury, which remains their base for league and cup fixtures..
