Two goals in a four-minute first-half purple patch did the damage for Dan Gray’s side, who responded to the recent defeat at Denham United in the best possible fashion.

Megan Brockwell put Penn ahead in the 22nd minute when her edge-of-the-box strike nestled into the bottom left-hand corner.

And the home side doubled their advantage just four minutes later, as Annalise Scott-Green’s hopeful ball forward evaded everyone including the Abingdon goalkeeper.

The visitors halved the deficit on the hour mark to set up a grandstand finale.

The points ultimately belonged to Penn, however, who can now enjoy their festive break in fixtures.
