PENN & Tylers Green Ladies were beaten 2-0 by Maidenhead United Women in the quarter-finals of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup on Sunday.
A hard-fought tie throughout, our fourth-tier visitors opened the scoring shortly before the half-hour mark through Alex Dover’s lofted finish.
Izzy Stockton then doubled that advantage early in the second half. Despite being reduced to 10 players for the final half hour, Maidenhead defended their goal well to progress to the semi-finals of the competition.
Ladies manager Dan Gray said: “The girls competed really well against an excellent Maidenhead side who took their chances.
“They moved the ball well but we really stuck at it. It’s a shame that the girls didn’t get the goal that our performance deserved.
“I think we’re slowly improving – year on year we’re improving the squad. I think we can continue to build.”
Our ladies are in Combined Counties League Trophy action at CB Hounslow & Abbots on Thursday.
