Penn see off Sandhurst

PENN & Tylers Green made a winning return from the recent break in fixtures, with Josh Pedley’s early goal enough to claim a 1-0 league win over Sandhurst Town at French School Meadow.

The midfielder struck in just the sixth minute for Gio Sepede and James Pritchard’s side to earn maximum points.

Penn were without a number of key players for this game – namely Jamie Essex, Charlie Losasso, Lennon Moore and Felix Prudden – but that didn’t stop the team from enjoying a fast start.

Indeed, the home side struck an early first and only blow when Pedley tapped home following excellent work from Kajtek Halatyn out wide.

The remainder of the first half made for an even encounter – but Penn stepped things up after half-time to secure their victory.

The hosts’ midfield three of James Mulley, Kian Austin and Ben Sturgess were excellent on the afternoon and gave the team a real platform to perform during the second half.

A killer second goal proved elusive, but Penn looked comfortable during the closing period – doing enough ultimately to collect three more points.

Ahead of the men’s first team’s return to action at Spelthorne Sports next Saturday, 8th November, joint-manager Sepede said: “With the players we had missing, we asked the lads for a solid, professional performance and that’s exactly what we got.

“We managed the game well – a special mention for Chris Ellis also, our recent signing from Virginia Water who was excellent. He made a big difference with our captain Jamie Essex missing this game.

“We’re all looking forward to the trip to Spelthorne now.”
