Five-star Ladies beat Kidlington

SUNDAY belonged to Ellie Lovelock, who bagged four goals in Penn & Tylers Green Ladies’ emphatic 5-0 win over Kidlington at French School Meadow.

It took Dan Gray’s side just six minutes to assume control of this league fixture. After a sweeping home move, Lovelock fired in from the edge of the penalty area to put Penn ahead.

One-nil became two in the 28th minute. Catching the visiting goalkeeper off her line following an underhit clearance, Lovelock’s low finish crept into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

Penn hardly relented after the half-time interval.

Indeed, it took just eight minutes for the third goal of the afternoon to arrive – Tara Woodward adding her name to the scoresheet with a close-range finish.

Penn’s approach play was particularly impressive and it was such football that led to the fourth goal on 57 minutes – Lovelock planting her heading beyond the Kidlington ‘keeper following a hanging right-flank centre.

The home side had plenty more chances to add to their lead, but had to settle for just one more goal to complete the five-nil success.

Lovelock added her name to the scoresheet for a fourth and final time, shooting high into the net on the rebound in the 67th minute.

The ladies’ campaign continues against Bournemouth Sports in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Cup next Sunday – kick-off 2pm at French School Meadow.

Penn: Jones, Helmer, Misselbrook, Harnby, Wyncoll, Troth, Scott-Green, Empson, Read, Lovelock, Woodward.

Subs: Baden, Southby, Woods, Cattell, Lockey.
