Ladies advance to cup quarters
THERE was late drama on Sunday as Tara Woodward struck in second-half stoppage time to earn a 2-1 win and send Penn & Tylers Green Ladies into the quarter-finals of this season’s Berks & Bucks Women’s Senior Cup.
On a wet and windy afternoon at French School Meadow, Sarah Harrison’s stunning first-half strike put Penn into the ascendancy against Slough Town Ladies.
The Rebels restored parity ahead of half-time, though, as Saj Turner’s persistence eventually put her in behind to finish past Rebecca Tobin.
This tie subsequently hung in the balance for the majority of the second half – only for Penn to provide the latest of sucker-punches.
Woodward dealt the killer blow, taking control of a left-wing cross before finishing from close range.
Penn can now look forward to a quarter-final against fourth-tier opposition, with Maidenhead United Women to visit French School Meadow on Sunday 16th November.
