Back-to-back wins after Deportivo success

A SHARP, clinical first half from Penn & Tylers Green set the platform for a hard-earned win, holding off FC Deportivo Galicia’s spirited fightback to take all three points under the lights at French School Meadow.

Buoyed by Saturday’s home win over Langley by the same scoreline, Penn hit three goals in 14 minutes to give them a cushion that was ultimately needed to secure victory.

Felix Prudden opened the scoring on 16 minutes, before James Essex doubled the lead after sustained pressure.

Kajtek Halatyn’s subsequent strike on the half-hour mark put Penn into a commanding lead.

But a visiting reply on the stroke of half-time changed the momentum of this fixture. Noah Henry converted a penalty just before the break to keep the visitors in the contest.

Maxwell Tichaona’s early second-half strike set up a grandstand finale but, despite plenty of visiting pressure thereafter, Penn defended doggedly during the closing stages to seal a second consecutive win.

Both sides were also reduced to 10 men in the closing stages – Penn’s Kyle Dawes dismissed for his tackle while last-man Yusef El Amrani saw red for his own challenge.

We return to league action in nearby Amersham this coming Saturday, taking on Sport London e Benfica at Spratleys Meadow.
