Mirko makes his mark

PENN & Tylers Green returned to victory on Tuesday night – collecting a 1-0 victory over Spartans Youth at French School Meadow.

Following a tightly-contested first half, Mirko Jovanovic came from the bench to strike the killer blow in the 63rd minute.

Indeed, coming on as a half-time substitute, the former Hillingdon Borough attacker linked smartly with Freddie Pritchard to smash home his first goal for the club.

Penn had chances to further extend their lead – namely when Jovanovic struck the post. The home side also had strong appeals for a penalty waved away after Pritchard appeared to be felled in the box.

One goal was also that Penn needed to secure all three points, though – with joint-manager Sepede commenting: “We’re really pleased.

“It certainly wasn’t a classic – particularly in the first half when we ha da lot of possession. Spartans put a lot of men behind the ball and that made it difficult for us.

“We changed a few thing at half-time to create a spark, and we are delighted with the clean sheet and result.

“People won’t remember the performance – but the three points are key.”

Penn return to action at FC Deportivo Galacia on Tuesday.
