THE OPPOSITION

About Burnham

Burnham were founded in 1878 and are regarded as the second-oldest football club in Buckinghamshire. After many years in local competition they joined the Great Western Combination in 1948, later passing through the Wycombe and Reading Combinations before entering the Hellenic League in 1971. The club, nicknamed “The Blues,” won the Hellenic Premier Division in 1975-76 and again in 1998-99, the London Spartan League in 1984-85 and, after years in the Southern League, the Southern League Division One Central title in 2012-13. They have also won numerous county cups, including the Wycombe Senior Cup and the Slough Cup nine times each, and lifted the Premier Challenge Cup in 2023-24.

Burnham moved between the Southern and Hellenic Leagues over the following decades before joining the Combined Counties League in 2021. The club’s home is The 1878 Stadium, formerly known as The Gore, which has a capacity of around 2,500 and a 3G artificial pitch installed in 2021. Having finished 5th of 20 in 2025-26, Burnham continue in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North, Step 5 of the English non-league pyramid, for 2026-27.
