KAJTEK Halatyn came from the bench to net a late, late winner and send Penn & Tylers Green back to the top of Combined Counties League Division One with a 2-1 victory over Colliers Wood United.
Penn were excellent value for their half-time lead, secured in the 41st minute when Ben Peters struck his first goal for the club.
However, hosts Colliers Wood thought they’d snatched a point when Conor Turner struck 11 minutes from time.
The visitors kept their nerve to secure all three points at Wibbandune Sports Ground, though, as Halatyn raced in behind the home defence to slide beyond the goalkeeper.
Joint-manager Gio Sepede commented: “It was a very hard-fought win.
“In the first 20 minutes, we were dominant and showed all the good characteristics that we have.
“Things then became a little more even on a difficult pitch but, just before half-time, Ben scored a good goal as we began to show patience. It was a great move.
“Then we had to dig it out. They equalised and we thought we were going to have to settle for a point, but we’ve used our bench so well of late and Kajtek got his reward for his hard work when he came on.
“It was a very calm finish to win us the game – we’re delighted with that.”
Penn return to action at Spartans Youth on Saturday.
