FA Four Corners: what this develops
Technical / TacticalPsychologicalPhysicalSocial

Objective

Close control and turning, using both feet to change direction sharply at each corner while keeping the ball tight.

Coaching points

  • Small, frequent touches down each side
  • Slow down into the corner, then a positive touch out of the turn
  • Use both feet, and turn with the inside and the outside of the foot
  • Head up to see the next cone before you get there

Progressions

  • Call a specific move to use at every corner (drag-back, inside cut, outside cut)
  • Make the square bigger to add pace, or smaller for tighter control
  • Two boxes and race, but a clean lap only counts if every corner has a move
  • Reverse direction so they turn the other way
