Objective

Accurate, well-weighted passing with the inside of the foot, and a good first touch to control and set up the return.

Coaching points

  • Pass with the inside of the foot, ankle locked, through the middle of the ball
  • Weight it so your partner can control it, not too hard, not too soft
  • First touch out of your feet, ready to pass back
  • Head up to line up the gate before you pass

Progressions

  • Move the pair further apart
  • Shrink the gate
  • One touch only
  • Add a second gate so they choose which to pass through
